NEWS ....... WEEK COMMENCING 30TH MARCH 2015

I am currently at Albatros enjoying the lovely weather which has returned after some time of strong winds. ...... lucky me to have missed all that.  Commiserations to those who had this for the whole of their stay.

GARDENS

Once again the large pots with small trees in have been blown over.  These have been replaced at a cost of around 90€ each for the last 2, if not 3, years.  The Committee have decided to look at other options for the containers, probably something lower and broader based that will not catch the wind.

Other than that, all I have to say is that the gardens are looking lovely with splashes of colour from the flowers,  The 2 beds opposite the fountain which had large conifers removed last year are looking very smart and the remaining plants can be appreciated to the full now that they are not fighting for light.

APARTMENT GROUND FLOOR CORRIDOR

Jose Luis has started work on the ground floor corridor which will be painted and small cracks repaired.  Jose did the excellent work on the Floor 3.  Part of the render on the side wall of the lift had started to come adrift.  When tapped with a hammer, Jose said that it all just fell off exposing the brick beneath. This area has now been made good .... and is probably better than the original by Taray.  It is a harder material whereas the original is very powdery.

Painting will be done over the next couple of weeks.  Please accept apologies for any inconvenience which I hope will be minimal.

We have new absorbent mats either side of the main door .... Ikea's best!!  The idea of these is to minimise the amount of wet that is carried inside onto the floor which then becomes very slippery..... particularly relevant in the warmer weather when many people are using the pool.

POOL

Maintenance work on the pool is now nearly complete and the steps at the deep end are back in place.  The apron around the pool will be painted shortly with 2 coats of paint and the signs re-stencilled.  This will mean the pool will not be in use until the paint has dried.  I haven't heard yet when this will be.

MAINTENANCE WORK

This continues to take up a huge amount of the Committee's time because we are at the stage of checking the finer detail of the work to be done.  We are at the point of agreeing a contract with Decoman and at that time I will be writing to everyone with the relevant details.

Owners of properties where work is planned to be carried out will receive different letters from those who are not having work done in this first phase.  A general overview will be sent to Owners not having work done with details of the 5 year plan so that they can see when their work is scheduled and most importantly how it is planned to fund the cost of all the work.
