NEWS ..... WEEK COMMENCING 19TH JANUARY 2015

Happy New Year everyone and best wishes for 2015.

I have been quiet over the last few weeks which is not to say that I haven't been busy !!

I am at Albatros between 13th January and 10th February.  We have been here for a week and have had some beautiful, sunny days.  The evenings are chilly though.  Have you adjusted the draught excluder on your door?  The picture below shows the activator which should be sticking out when the door is open.  There is a slot on it to enable it to be adjusted.  When the door shuts the activator is pushed in and the draught excluder fills the space between the door and the floor.



EGM PACKAGE

You should all have received your package relating to the Meeting on Friday 30th January.  There is only one voting item.  If you have any problems with the form, please contact me and I will help.

APARTMENT ROOF

                            

   

Some work has been carried out on the  main areas on the apartment roof to remove mould stains that were beginning to sprout at a fast rate.  The walls were then painted using the recommended Community paint.  What a difference.  The photos speak for themselves.  The stains had developed below the joints in the stone capping so these have been completely cleaned out and resealed using a good quality grout.  The area will be monitored.  Our corridor cleaners do a clean on all 4 roof areas once a month and the stone capping is now kept clean to further reduce the likelihood of staining.

CORRIDOR PAINTING

The corridor on the 3rd floor is in the process of having its first repaint.  Several cracks had appeared in the plaster and although superficial were unsightly.  The photo shows little other than clean walls and that Jose has made very little mess while doing the job.  He expects to have the job completed by the end of this week.


GARAGE GRILLES

The long awaited improvement to the outside appearance of the garage is due to start next week (26th January) with the installation of powder coated aluminium grilles.  The old grilles will remain in place to avoid the cost and mess of having them removed and to provide an additional barrier.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE TOWN HALL HAS ADVISED IT IS NOT SAFE TO USE TAP WATER FOR DRINKING, CLEANING YOUR TEETH OR COOKING .....EVEN IF YOU HAVE BOILED IT FIRST.  THE WATER TANK IN THE APARTMENTS WILL HAVE TO BE CLEANED AFTER WE ARE ADVISED THAT IT IS SAFE TO USE AGAIN. The water tank is due to be tested during the week Commencing 2nd January.  In the meantime, please do not drink the tap water or use for cooking in the Apartments. 24TH JANUARY  2017 -  HAPPY NEW YEAR  TO ALL TOWNHOUSES, PENTHOUSES AND BUNGALOWS PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE TOWN HALL HAS ADVISED IT IS NOW SAFE TO USE TAP WATER FOR DRINKING, CLEANING YOUR TEETH AND COOKING. APARTMENT BLOCK THE TANK IN THE APARTMENTS IS DUE TO BE CLEANED  DURING THE WEEK COMMENCING 23RD JANUARY.  UNTIL THEN YOU SHOULD USE BOTTLED WATER FOR COOKING, DRINKING AND CLEANING YOUR TEETH ETC. I WILL ADVISE YOU WHEN IT HAS BEEN DONE AND THE CERTIFICATE ISSUED SAYING THAT IT IS CLEAN. 29th JANUARY  THE CHECK HAS BEEN DONE AND THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS BUT.........THERE IS DIRT IN THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK AND IT NEEDS TO BE CLEANED.  THIS IS SCHEDULED FOR  WEEK COMMENCING 29TH JANUARY. UPDATE 2nd FEBRUARY 2017

APARTMENT WATER TANK The tank has now been tested, cleaned and disinfected.  We are back to normal. FOLLOWING THE FLOODS Has your property been checked since the heavy rains in December and January?  Some Owners have problems with water entering through their solariums especially in the.Penthouses and Townhouses. FIBRE OPTIC We have accepted an offer to install the fibre optic option into the complex.  We don't have an installation date as yet but I will let you know as soon as we are advised. It is part of the Government sponsored scheme so there is no charge for this.  Speeds should be in the region of 15 to 30 mb.  Charges for fibre optic packages seem to start from about 30€ per month which gives internet, TV and currently a mobile phone with data allowance included.
